BROWN BUTTER TOFFEE CHOCOLATE CHUNK COOKIES
Ingredients
2 sticks butter (1 cup)
1 cup dark brown sugar, packed
⅓ cup sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 ½ cups rough-chopped Heath bars
1 ½ cups chocolate wafers, rough-crushed
Sea salt
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Cook butter in a medium sauce pan over medium high heat, stirring frequently, until it foams and turns a golden-brown color, about 7-8 minutes. Pour into a large bowl and let cool to room temperature.
Add the brown sugar, granulated sugar, and vanilla to the butter and, using an electric mixture beat for about 1 minute until well combined. Add eggs and beat for another 30 seconds until smooth and lighter in color.
Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl. Reduce mixer speak to low and slowly add dry ingredients until just combined.
Fold in the Heather bars and chocolate wafers. Let sit for 30-40 minutes to let the batter congeal and thicken.
Roll into 1 ½” – 2” balls and place 3” apart on parchment lined baking sheets. Sprinkle with sea salt.
Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are browned but centers are still soft. Let sit for 10 minutes before removing from pans.
