ASIAN TURKEY MEATBALLS IN HOISIN TERRIAYKI SAUCE
Ingredients
3 tablespoons peanut oil
1-pound ground turkey burger
½ teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
1 teaspoon garlic, chopped
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon wasabi cream
1 teaspoon fish sauce
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
½ cup panko bread crumbs
2 tablespoons brown sugar
¼ cup scallions, chopped
Sauce:
½ cup hoisin sauce
2 teaspoons wasabi cream
1 tablespoon garlic, chopped
¼ cup orange juice
1 teaspoon sesame oil
½ cup red bell pepper, chopped
¼ cup scallions chopped
2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
Instructions
Heat the peanut oil in a large skillet over medium high heat.
Combine all of the meatball ingredients together in a large bowl. Mix with your hands until well combined and form into small balls. This recipe makes about 20 meatballs.
Add the meatballs to the skillet and brown on all sides, about 5 minutes. Reduce heat to low and let them continue to cook through.
Combine the sauce ingredients in a small bowl and add to the skillet along with the chopped red bell pepper. Increase heat to medium and toss the meatballs in the sauce until well coated and the meatballs are just cooked through, about 1-2 minutes.
Serve as an entrée over rice or as an appetizer with one toothpick in each. Garnish with additional scallions and toasted sesame seeds.
